On May 8th, 2019, the Canadian Embassy in Havana announced that due to reduction in staff at the embassy, IRCC was not able to continue providing certain services related to visitor visas (temporary resident visas), study and work permits and also to permanent residence interviews.
This suspension in services created several difficulties for families and also for businesses.
Finally on July 29th 2019, the IRCC made some changes and announced:
On August 1, 2019, a number of visa and biometrics services that were originally offered at the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) visa office in Havana, Cuba will once again be available at the Canadian Embassy. These services will facilitate the travel of Cubans to Canada and will make the process quicker, easier and less costly for applicants.

This announcement was really well received by the business community, and we can applaud the prompt resolution of this situation.
